CNIB Foundation's culture, sports and recreation programs provide you with opportunities to take part in a variety of creative classes, community-based workshops, physical activities and excursions.

Song Bingo Game Night!

Come join us every other Friday for Song Bingo Game Night! All you need to participate is access to phone or Zoom and a bingo card at home or online!  Each Song Bingo Night will have a different musical theme! Feel free to play as a family or house, you could even make a night of it by dressing up to match the theme! There will be prizes for the first 3 bingo winners and for the person who names the most tunes! This program is designed for participants of all ages.

How It’s Played, Featuring Team Empowerplay

Would you like to be more active? Is there a sport you have always wanted to play...but have no idea where to start? Well look no further! This how-to program will teach you all about adaptive sports and how to play them! We'll cover: tennis, cycling, weightlifting, basketball, running, swimming, kayaking, fencing, and triathlon. This program runs via Zoom web conference every Wednesday from 5 to 6 p.m. Eastern Time. Call in information will be given upon registration.

Slam the Scam! CRA Scams: Protect Yourself Against Fraud, Presented by the Government of Canada.

Learn how to protect yourself against fraud. Join in this interactive presentation from the Government of Canada followed by an open floor where participants may ask questions or share stories of their scam experiences. This program rus via Zoom web conference on June 22 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Call in information will be given upon registration.

Old Time Radio

Join us for a trip back into the world of old-time radio with OTR Rewind. Featuring comedies, dramas and a variety of programs from the time when network radio was king and every buddy tuned in for their entertainment. Shows will originate from the Thirties through the eighties. You are welcomed to briefly comment between shows or just sit back and enjoy the vast variety presented by your host Kelly MacDonald. This group runs via Zoom web conference biweekly on Saturday from 12 to 1:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Call in information will be given upon registration.

BALANCE for Blind Adults Presents:  Let's Get Quizzical, MonthlyTrivia Night! Join us on the third Thursday of every month for a lot of fun trying to be the best! You’ll be assigned to a team and will have a really fun and challenging evening. The trivia group meets on the third Thursday of every month.

Join BALANCE for an interactive fantasy board game group where storytelling and single-character play, set on a loosely medieval world, takes players on the adventure of a lifetime! This group meets every Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

BALANCE for Blind Adults Presents: Stay Safe! A Comprehensive Violence Prevention Program for Blind and Partially Sighted Adults

BALANCE is excited to partner with self-defense instructor and violence prevention specialist Alexis Fabricius in a 5-part course that will aim to shed light on the many misconceptions we may hold (and not even know it!). This course will cover some of the basics of self-defense, but will include additional skills like verbal de-escalation and practicing evaluative techniques in threatening scenarios, while also exploring topics such as violence against the blind and partially sighted, challenging vulnerability and responding to disablism/ableism.This workshop runs via Zoom web conference every Wednesday (ending July 7) from 7 to 8 p.m. Eastern Time.

On a Prairie Wind

This group will meet once per month over the summer months. Each one-hour session will explore a new theme: making references to novels, poetry, articles, song lyrics, quotations, recipes, and more. From clotheslines to libraries, musical instruments, art, and the intriguing landmarks of Winnipeg and Manitoba – come along on this journey of curiosities. This program runs via Zoom web conference on June 16, July 14 and August 18 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Central Daylight Time. Call in information will be given upon registration.
