Make a Gift in your Will
Leaving a gift to a charity in your will is known as a “bequest.” Bequests allow you to leave a lasting legacy of generosity in support of causes you care about.
A bequest can be a dollar amount, a specific asset, a percentage of your estate, or the residual amount of your estate.
Create an endowment for lasting impact
An endowment is a permanent fund held by CNIB where a portion of the interest generated each year supports our work in perpetuity. This means that your gift will create impact for people who are blind, partially sighted, or Deafblind for generations to come.
You can choose to create an endowment during your lifetime, or you can choose to create an endowment through a gift in your will.
Leave a gift of insurance
Gifts of life insurance are a simple and affordable way to create significant impact for future generations of people impacted by blindness.
You can choose to transfer the ownership of an existing policy to CNIB or purchase a new policy and make CNIB its beneficiary. No matter which option you choose, you will be immediately eligible for a charitable tax receipt.
Give through an RRSP, RRIF, or TFSA
By naming CNIB as a beneficiary of your RRSP, RRIF, or TFSA, you can create a significant impact without affecting your current financial situation. This option also allows you to reduce your taxable income while ensuring your gift will never be subject to probate fees.
Other ways to give:
Charitable gift annuity, charitable remainder trust and gift of property.
Leave a gift of securities
You can create a powerful legacy of support by donating stocks, mutual funds, or traded securities directly to CNIB. When you give a gift of securities, you won’t pay capital gains tax and you will receive a charitable tax receipt for the full amount of your gift.
