Advocacy is a powerful tool to dismantle systemic barriers, challenge discrimination and create change by raising awareness, influencing policies, and mobilizing community members to get involved. But finding your voice and learning how to become an advocate can sometimes feel intimidating or overwhelming. CNIB’s new advocacy peer mentorship program, CNIB Advocacy Mentorship Network, aims to change that.

Discover the tools and techniques you need to channel your frustrations and concerns into constructive advocacy efforts by enrolling in the CNIB Advocacy Mentorship Network!

Through a structured curriculum, participants will:

  • Learn how advocacy can help transform challenges into action!
  • Gain a deeper understanding of the legal rights of people who are blind, Deafblind, or have low vision and how to advocate for and exert those rights.
  • Build their advocacy skills and strengthen their confidence to speak up for their own interests and needs to improve their quality of life, correct inequalities, and effect change in their immediate circle and community.
  • Connect with an experienced peer mentor who will guide them on their advocate journey.
  • Learn how to identify and address discrimination, propose solutions, and influence change.
  • Meet a supportive community of advocates.

The pilot program will be available in English only and will run for 10 months, starting January 2025. All participants must commit to attending a one-hour monthly meeting (minimum).

Whether you’re new to advocacy or looking to refine your skills, our new advocacy peer mentorship program will teach you how to become a more confident and influential advocate!
