Messy but marvellous, s’mores are an essential part of the camp experience. Thanks to a generous donor, we've installed an outdoor pizza oven at CNIB Lake Joe and put a new twist on this camp classic - s’mores dessert pizza!
In this issue, we’re featuring our recipe for “Easy S’mores Dessert Pizza” with just four ingredients and five steps to gooey goodness. At CNIB Lake Joe, these yummy pies get gobbled up by guests as they relax in Muskoka chairs around the toasty campfire. Just one more reason to register now!
Ingredients:
- Pizza dough (we like Fleischmann’s beginner dough which is easy to make and doesn’t need time to rise)
- Chocolate spread or melted chocolate (chocolate chips work too)
- Marshmallows (minis work best)
- Graham cracker crumbs
Instructions:
- For “indoor s'mores,” preheat oven to 425 degrees. Press out the dough onto a pizza pan and use a fork to pierce the dough for venting.
- Bake the dough for 8-10 minutes until brown.
- Spread the chocolate sauce or sprinkle chocolate chips all over the dough, let them melt, and then spread the chocolate out like a sauce.
- Sprinkle the graham crackers crumbs, chocolate chips, and mini marshmallows across the pizza and broil for 1-3 minutes until marshmallows start to brown.
- Drizzle melted chocolate/sauce across the pizza to finish it off, then slice and serve like you would a regular pizza.

- Campers at Deer Run Camping Resort in Gardners, Pennsylvania, built what might be the largest s'more weighing in at 267 pounds with 140 pounds of marshmallows, 90 pounds of chocolates and 90 pounds of graham crackers.
- In the summer, approximately 50% of marshmallows sold are roasted for s'mores.
