How can I become a volunteer?

Becoming a volunteer is easy. Simply fill out our Volunteer Interest Form. Your local volunteer program lead will get back to you shortly; walk you through the screening and training process; and help you find the role that will be most rewarding and impactful for you.

I don’t know very much about CNIB and what you do. Can I still volunteer?

Absolutely. We want to make sure you feel 100% confident in your volunteer role. All of our volunteers receive orientation and training sessions.

I’m in high school. Can I volunteer?

If you’re 14 or older, yes!

Do I need to get a police record check?

It depends on the position you apply for. Any position that includes contact with our participants (i.e., the people with sight loss we serve) or confidential CNIB Foundation information will require a police record check.

Do I have to make a weekly commitment?

No. If you're not able to make a regular, weekly commitment, we also offer monthly and occasional volunteering opportunities.

Do I have to make a long-term commitment?

No. We're grateful for any amount of time you can commit to our organization. We offer many long-term roles, but we also need volunteers for special events and short-term projects.

There’s no CNIB office in my community. Can I still volunteer?

Yes! We have many volunteer positions that engage volunteers in their own communities, even if there’s no CNIB Foundation office in that community. These positions include Ambassadors, Vision Mates, and peer support group leaders.
