For children who are blind or have low vision, the world is often filled with unnecessary obstacles, whether it’s having limited access to accessible learning materials or navigating people’s misconceptions about what they can and can’t do.
At CNIB, we believe every child deserves the chance to shine – and we’re determined to break down the barriers standing in their way.
That’s why we created CNIB Next Generation. This groundbreaking program is designed to empower children and their families with the tools, support, and opportunities they need to thrive – in school, at home, and beyond. From a national parent network to advocacy initiatives that smash barriers and level the playing field, we’re working to build a future where every child impacted by blindness can reach their full potential.
But don’t just take our word for it – meet our incredible ‘10 under 10’! These 10 amazing kids who are showing the world that the next generation of children impacted by blindness is destined for greatness.
Introducing Our '10 Under 10'!

Forest
Forest, 5, dreams of becoming a firefighter and racing to the rescue in a “weee-oooo-weeee-oooo” firetruck! When he’s not plotting his firefighting adventures, you’ll find him munching on his favourite meal: chicken fingers and French fries. (Fuel for heroes, obviously.
Emma
Eight-year-old Emma is as cool as her favourite color: light blue. Between Irish dancing and playing hockey, she’s also whipping up big plans to become a chef. Watch out, Gordon Ramsay – Emma’s kitchen is coming!
Timothy
At just five years old, Timothy is already a big-time swimmer and music enthusiast. His big sister Hailey wants everyone to know that even though Timothy is blind, he still likes to do the same things as other kids, like watch TV and play at the park!
Tripp
Scientist-in-training Tripp, 6, loves playing with friends and doing crafts. He’s learning braille in grade one and is ready to show the world that curiosity is his superpower!
John-James
Meet nine-year-old John-James, a math whiz with a talent for language arts and a love of Hawaiian pizza. He’s already living his dream as a YouTuber, proudly sharing his passions with the world. (We bet his next upload will go viral!)

Shenuka
Six-year-old Shenuka has a heart for teaching – and for taking charge of the Walmart shopping cart! With a love of buses and cars, we’re pretty sure his future students are in for a ride.
Stephen
Stephen, 8, is music’s next big thing – or maybe Hollywood’s. Either way, this kid’s passion for melodies and drama is bound to steal the spotlight. Don’t forget us when you’re famous, Stephen!
Nixon
Seven-year-old Nixon loves rock climbing and trying new things. He wants to become a paleontologist and a builder when he grows up – and we can’t wait to see the dinosaur-inspired skyscrapers in his future!
Tori
Tori is a nine-year-old triple threat with a love of softball, rock climbing, and school, especially art and math. Her future as an artist or teacher (or maybe both!) is as bright as her talent.
Lexi
Nine-year-old Lexi is a paleontologist-in-the-making. When she’s not reading or swimming, she’s hanging out with her CNIB buddy dog, Nori, who’s clearly the best study partner around.
These remarkable kids are proof that the future is bright! With the help of CNIB Next Generation, they’re breaking down barriers, chasing their dreams, and redefining what’s possible.
