Here’s your chance to become a drawing ninja and to learn from the best blind cartoonist working today – develop your pencil skills with drawing sensei Doug Knight!
Doug has been recently teaching at Northview Heights Secondary School. He is the creative force and owner/operator/publisher of Cross Eye Comics. Recent titles from his imprint include Chiasm and Super Wicked White Cell Squadron, two titles that are inspired to various degrees by his childhood experience with the cancer that affected his vision.
Sensei Doug provides a comfy casual learning environment where artist can chat and build their skills. Some of the dynamic exercises he has prepared include building images using basic shapes and figure construction using circles and sausages. Participants will also practice drawing mythic creatures from our wildest imagination and structures like sand castles and skyscrapers.
Make sure to sign up early to avoid disappointment! Please note this program is for participants with some usable vision. Check out our tactile art program the Finger Magic Art Workshop offered right after the Drawing Dojo.
Attendees will meet on the second Saturday of every month from 10 to 11 a.m. at the CNIB GTA Community Hub (1525 Yonge Street, Toronto).
