Are you an Ajax resident with sight loss concerned about unsafe behaviours by people using e-scooters and e-bikes? The Town of Ajax is seeking ten residents who are blind or have low vision to participate in an in-person focus group to help evaluate the 2024 Shared E-scooter and E-bike Pilot Program.

The Focus Group will help evaluate the Town’s efforts to educe the risk of conflict between pedestrians with disabilities and people using e-scooters and e-bikes through education and engagement. This includes collaboration with people with disabilities to build a culture of respect for pedestrians with disabilities.

  • Date: Wednesday, September 25, 2024
  • Time: 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
  • Location: Town of Ajax Townhall (65 Harwood Avenue South), Riverplate Room.

The session will be facilitated by CNIB and will inform the Town’s future improvements to the Town’s Shared E-scooter and E-bike Pilot Program. Compensation will be provided ($150) for the first ten participants who attend and provide feedback. Refreshments including water for guide dogs and service animals (please inform us of any dietary restrictions) An interpreter can be made available upon request. Please request by September 10, 2024.

Interested participants must:

  • Reside in the Town of Ajax OR be a resident of Durham Region who uses trails in Ajax frequently.
  • Be blind or have low vision.Consent to being filmed and photographed. Photos and video footage will be used for different projects, messaging, and campaigns done by the Town of Ajax to highlight the Town’s efforts for the Shared E-scooter and E-bike Pilot Program and initiatives related to accessibility and diversity.
