This interview is based on a “Guestimonial” Llonella Gilbert, our CNIB Lake Joe Communications Intern, had with Daniel during his stay at CNIB Lake Joe.
Llonella: Daniel is this your first time at CNIB Lake Joe?
Daniel: No, I actually came here when they did the Northern Exposure program as part of a grade eight trip with W. Ross MacDonald. Actually, it’s funny because I stayed in the same cabin that I am staying at now.
Llonella: It seems as if the first day you came here you were playing the piano. How long have you been playing the piano?
Daniel: I have been playing the piano since I was three.
Llonella: You offered to play any song that anybody wanted. So can you play just about anything then?
Daniel: I can play anything from jazz, to '50s, '60s, '70s, '80s, songs from other countries, different songs from all over the world, and Polish songs as well.
Llonella: Besides playing the piano, have you enjoyed any of the other activities at Lake Joe?
Daniel: Yes, definitely.
Llonella: What have you been doing?
Daniel: Recently, I completed the rock climbing. It was so much fun. It was like an achievement; it was so much fun.
Llonella: Did you get to the top?
Daniel: I did!
Llonella: Awesome! Was there anything else that you tried while you were here?
Daniel: Oh my gosh yes, sailing…
Llonella: Did you go on the Voyageur – the big canoe?
Daniel: I did! It was like the biggest canoe I’ve ever been in.
Llonella: Did you do the campfire?
Daniel: I did and I sang some songs, and everyone liked it.
Llonella: Cool! Is there anything else you think you might want to try while you are here since you’re so adventurous?
Daniel: Oh my gosh, I would try anything. I’m going to tubing tomorrow and I’m also going to be performing at the Talent Show.
Llonella: So, if I come to the Talent Show and take pictures of you, you don’t mind?
Daniel: Yeah, that’s fine. Also, I’ve made some good friends and it’s also a great opportunity when you go to camp to make some best friends and have some fun.
Llonella: Do you want to come back to camp?
Daniel: Oh yeah, for as long as I live. I want to make new friends and reunite with new friends from W. Ross MacDonald.
Llonella: Is there anything that you would like to add about your time here at CNIB Lake Joe?
Daniel: Yeah, it’s a lovely place with lovely people. It’s a lot of fun and you get to try a lot of new things and meet a lot of nice people. It’s like the best place.
