Volunteer audio technician/narrator – Montreal, QC
For Céline Garneau, volunteering at the CNIB Foundation isn't a job; it's a pleasure. The retired philosophy teacher joined our volunteer team in 2002, helping to create accessible audio books for people with sight loss in our recording studios. Clearly, she enjoys her work, because she's still in the same department...18 years later.
Twice a week, like clockwork, Céline makes her way to our Montreal recording studio. One day, she works as an audio technician; another, she narrates books. With her background in philosophy, she has become our unofficial, go-to reader of philosophical literature.
She says she enjoys spending time with her volunteering partner with whom she records every week.
"I trained him a few years ago and since then, we never leave each other's side!" she jokes.
Outside of her role in the recording studio, Céline has also volunteered in other ways; for example, as a guide for children at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts Elle est actuellement bénévole en francisation des immigrants.
