The best part about Brenda Heisler's position at CNIB is seeing the positive changes the organization has made since she started nine months ago.
"From rural outreach to internships, I can see the improvements we are making, and that excites me."
Brenda is the manager of the Northern Saskatchewan Region for the CNIB Foundation and Vision Loss Rehabilitation Saskatchewan based out of the Saskatoon office which is now located at 201, 3301 8th Street.
In her role she is responsible for the coordination and implementation of programs and service delivery to ensure effective and efficient delivery of programming. But of course, her job has many other facets and she is often seen lending a helping hand to staff, smiling at clients and bringing staff baked goods.
Her work history includes: working for other non-profits like the Regina Multicultural Society as the executive director and with people with intellectual disabilities at the Sarcan Depots in Regina.
When working for these organizations she discovered her calling. "Making a difference in serving clients and the community is where my true passion lies".
This belief and hard work landed her first management position. "I became a manager because the management team saw that I have a strong belief in helping others that carried beyond my job duties."
This ethic shows in one of her goals. "I want to reach our clients in remote locations who are not able to access our services and programming."
While serving clients over the past year, Brenda has learned everyone's needs are different. "I have found that a person's own goals and ambitions are personalized and do not fit into a mold. No one situation or circumstance is the same. Each client's motivations and goals are dependent on what they want for themselves."
From the staff her lessons have been different, "Every day is a new day, new lessons to be learnt, new laughs to be had and that no one should take things so seriously. But also, how big the hearts of our staff really are. I see them every day, go above and beyond to ensure that our client's needs are met to the best of their abilities."
But most of all she's happy she accepted her position with CNIB. "I am excited to be a part of the Saskatchewan team and look forward to working with clients, the community or stakeholders and staff in the coming year."
