This program is designed to provide youth who are blind or partially sighted opportunities to develop leadership, advocacy, and compensatory skills in a social setting with the goal of building self-esteem, confidence, social and community engagement, and self-advocacy (empowerment). In Youth Leadership, the goal is to increase the participants confidence and knowledge about transitioning to post-secondary and work environments. The group also nurtures independence and helps the youth find out what they are capable of, while having fun and learning to support themselves and others. There will be opportunities for the youth to take on leadership roles and be involved in projects as well as, listen to guest speakers and learn from them. Youth Leadership participants are encouraged to be mentors during the CNIB summer camps as Counselors in Training (CITs).
The Saskatoon Youth Adventure Club meets on the third Wednesday of every month from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at CNIB Saskatoon.
Please be advised that you must register for all programs. We kindly ask you to RSVP a minimum of 1 full business day before the start of the program.
