Meaningful Mondays, compassionate conversations with a community of peers who have sight loss.
This Adjustment to Vision Loss (AVL) Discussion Series keeps the interactive conversation going. In a safe and confidential, peer led, (virtual) space, people with sight loss can drop in to explore, contribute, and understand the many emotions and losses associated with sight loss, and build self-confidence for leading a meaningful and independent life.
Sight Loss affects people in many ways. By joining a peer support group you are taking an important step to gaining understanding and acceptance of your personal journey with sight loss. By sharing your experience with others who are on a similar path of adjustment and change, together you will find comfort and support.
With the guidance of peer support facilitators, participants with partial sight or blindness will share dialogue within interactive, theme- focused sessions. This is not a counselling or therapy group. While there are benefits that come with a specialized discussion group, please consult with your health care provider for any additional support you may require.
Participants formally agree to confidentiality and to providing a quiet and confidential/secure setting while on Zoom for each session. Limited space. Please register by the Friday prior to this Monday group.
Meaningful Mondays meets the second Monday of every month from 1 to 3 p.m. Eastern Time on Zoom. Zoom information will be shared after registering.
Please be advised that you must register for all programs. We kindly ask you to RSVP a minimum of 1 full business day before the start of the program.
Registration required. To register, please contact Lucia Ricardo, Program Lead, Recreation, Sport and Accessible Community Engagement at lucia.ricardo@cnib.ca or call 1-800-563-2642.
