Eye injuries can happen anywhere – but they don’t have to.
In 2007, Newfoundland and Labrador experienced an eye injury crisis – with nearly 400 injuries occurring annually across the province. In response to the province’s growing concerns, CNIB developed the Industrial Eye Safety Program.
The program features a 60-minute workshop that includes real-life stories, shocking visuals, and personal testimonials. Participants will leave the session with a better understanding of the personal cost of eye injury, motivating them to be diligent about wearing appropriate eye protection and following workplace safety protocols.
Since then, the program has been successfully educating workers in countless workplaces and educational institutions, across a wide variety of industries.
Did you know?
Eye injuries are one of the leading causes of sight loss among Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.
In many cases, these eye injuries are completely preventable with the use of protective eyewear. In fact, 60 per cent of all eye injuries are sustained as a direct result of not wearing protective eyewear at the time of the accident.
