Winter CNIB Braille Literacy Programs – Register Now!

Our winter braille programs for children and youth are now open for registration! These programs focus on building braille literacy skills with fun activities, prizes, and opportunities to connect with peers.

Braille Quest

Complete fun challenges and put your braille skills to the test – at home or school! All braille reading and writing skill levels are welcome to participate. Registrants will receive a Braille Quest package by mail in January. Activities will cover a range of interests from arts and crafts to reading comprehension, experiments, and creative writing. Complete your Braille Quest at home or at school before March 15 for a chance to win a prize. This program is offered across Canada, in English and French. Register for the Braille Quest

Ontario Regional Braille Challenge

The Braille Institute's Braille Challenge is the only competition of its kind in North America. Contestants compete in regional preliminary events and the students with the highest scores in each category are invited to Los Angeles to compete in the finals. Compete in the Ontario Regional Braille Challenge! The sooner you register, the more time you’ll have to improve your braille skills. Practice tests are always available. Plus, CNIB can connect you with other students, parents and TVI’s who are part of the Braille Challenge Community. Competitors are also eligible for our Braille-Palooza! prizes. While this Braille Challenge event is only offered in Ontario, there may be other organizations that run regional Braille Challenge events. For more information, please visit the Braille Institute – Braille Challenge list of regional events. Learn more about the Ontario Regional Braille Challenge

CNIB Braille Creative Writing Contest

It’s never too early to start thinking about the CNIB Braille Creative Writing Contest! There are cash prizes for this bilingual program and the deadline for submissions is May 31. We accept original stories or poems written at any time during this school year, as long as they are submitted in braille. This program is offered across Canada, in English and French.
