CNIB is hitting the road to bring our innovative programs to life in your community! Meet the CNIB Mobile Hub – a new program delivery model where we visit your community to deliver in-person programming at no cost to you.

We’d love for you to join us when we visit Fort McMurray at the Eagle Ridge Community Centre (301 Sparrow Hawk Dr #2, Fort McMurray) on Tuesday, November 12 from 3 to 6:30 p.m. and  Wednesday, November 13 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. 

Drop in to meet CNIB staff and learn more about free programs and resources for people who are blind, Deafblind, or have low vision. Enjoy a day of recreational and social activities, technology workshops, and much more. Experience the latest breakthroughs in assistive tech from CNIB SmartLife and connect with other members of the sight loss community. Our free programs are designed to educate, entertain, and engage community members who are blind, as well as their families, friends, and caregivers. 

While registering for the Mobile Hub is strongly encouraged, walk-ins are also welcome. To register, please complete the CNIB Auto Registration Form or call 1-800-563-2642.

Tangled Art + Disability: Accessible Gallery Visit – October
Toronto
In October, CNIB GTA art enthusiasts are invited to visit Tangled Art + Disability, a Toronto gallery with the mandate to support disability-identified artists, to cultivate Disability Arts in Canada, and to enhance access to the arts for artists and all audiences. Please join us for “There is always something better," curated by Salima Punjani and featuring the artwork of Harmeet Rahal, Sonali Menezes and Moira Williams. The Tangled Art + Disability: Accessible Gallery visit is on Saturday, October 26 from 1 to 3 p.m. Participants will travel independently to the 401 Richmond gallery complex where the group will be met by CNIB staff and volunteers to navigate to Tangled Art and Disability. All ages are welcome.

Beyond Sight Series
The Beyond Sight Series feature monthly virtual presentations from various services, businesses and organizations in our community. Each month, we will offer a different topic and speaker will join us to discuss a variety of topics. Examples include: RDSP’s, wills, budgeting, nutrition and lots more. Fourth Monday of every month from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Newfoundland Time on Zoom.

Early Years Speaker Series – October
Join the Early Years Digital Literacy Project team and other industry partners for an exciting series of presentations. Topics will focus on supporting the learning and development of children who are blind or low vision, between the ages of 2-6 who are living in Canada. October Session: Meet Sharon Kanhai-Johnston, the new Family Guide at CNIB. Learn about this exciting new program that is being piloted now as part of CNIB Next Generation in Ontario and ask questions or share feedback about what the role could look like as it expands across Canada. Let's Get Gardening
If you have a green thumb (or you'd like to have one), then this gardening discussion group is for you! We swap success stories, talk about our favorite plants, and generally 'dish the dirt' on all things horticultural. For all levels of garden enthusiasts. Whether you patio or container garden, or have lots of gardening space, the time in this group will just buzz by. Every Monday from 1 to 2 p.m. Eastern Time on Zoom.

Exploring Meditation and Mindfulness Attitudes
In a caring and supportive virtual environment with peers, participants will explore meditation, and mindfulness attitudes. Through group interaction, participants will develop and share insights, and learn how practice can help with managing life's challenges. This is a 10-week introductory program hosted on Zoom, and is not a drop in format.
