I Can… Create! Windsor & Essex Youth Art Project

DateNovember 26, 2024
Time
9:00 am - 5:00 pm EST
Event Type
In Person
Program Type
Children & Youth Programs

This is a program for the Windsor and Essex area youth aged 29 and under.

Art is something that is created to invoke feelings, create conversation, tell a story and express what the artist is trying to communicate. This can be done through all sorts of methods such as pencil, paint, ink, clay, glue, tactile wax sticks (doodle sticks or Wiki Sticks), tape, marker, puff paint layers of paper, felt, fabric, and the list goes on and on! How cool would it be if you heard about a community art exhibit where you could share your art work with others? What about a school project where you are asked to create your own art to represent a feeling, an event, an object in the environment? The "I Can...Create" Art project will give you a chance to practice flexing your creative muscles and gain knowledge and confidence in expressing yourself through whatever art avenue you choose.

Here's how to participate:

  1. Register for the program. To register, please complete the CNIB Auto Registration Form.
  2. We'll mail your out an art kit full of various supplies
  3. You will have 6 weeks to practice and experiment with creating an art project or two, that represent a theme that is important to you. Maybe the art will be a self portrait, an abstract example of a feeling "happy", "sad", "determined", "love". Maybe it is a sculpture of your dog....it really is up to you.
  4. We will have an initial Zoom call to talk as a group about the project, gather some ideas and answer questions.
  5. We'll host another Zoom call after 6 weeks where folks can gather, share their projects (if they wish) and talk about what they created and why they created it. Most importantly, we'll talk about what we learned, what fun we had, and what the next exciting art project might be!
