Charitable gift annuity FAQs

Main Content

What is a charitable gift annuity (CGA)?

A CGA is a unique way to make a lasting gift to charity and receive secure payments for life. A CGA is purchased by making a donation to the CNIB Foundation, a portion of which qualifies immediately for a charitable tax receipt. Then you’ll receive guaranteed monthly, semi-annual, or annual payments for life.

How can I make a CGA with the CNIB Foundation?

If you’re interested in making a CGA, contact us. We're happy to answer questions and prepare a free, no-obligation quote. Our contact information is at the bottom of this page.

How much money will I receive in each payment?

That depends on several factors, including the amount you’ve donated, your age, payment schedule and whether you’re male or female. The amount you receive will be included in your free quote. You’re under no obligation to continue with the CGA if you choose to consider a different method of planned giving.

What information does the CNIB Foundation need from me in order to give me a quote for a CGA?

To prepare your free quote, we’ll ask you for:

  • Your birthdate.
  • Whether you’ll share the proceeds from the annuity with another person, like a spouse or sibling.
  • How often you’d like to receive payments (monthly, semi-annually or annually).
  • The donation amount.
