CNIB Endowment Program
Created in 1950, the CNIB Endowment Program was born out of a desire to provide sustainable programming for individuals impacted by blindness.
By March 31, 2021, the CNIB Endowment Program grew to $14,250,000 – an increase of $2,250,000. This was reflected in the Fund areas supporting Literacy, Youth and Technology, with a significant contribution to the Second Century Fund to support the areas of greatest organizational need.
Help today to create a brighter future for Canadians with sight loss. Recent years have found a shift in thinking from “bequest” creation of endowments to gifts of current assets. Donors are creating endowed funds from current investments, gifts of securities, or property to fund the original capital – often further gifts are added at time of death. By creating an endowment in real time, donors enjoy knowing how their capital investment is making an impact today, while using it to encourage friends, families and associates to make gifts in their honour. They consider this a double win, creating a “living” legacy.
