You decide what’s on the agenda at these weekly peer support discussion groups for people who have come to terms with vision loss and adapted well to their new lifestyle. The groups are led by volunteers trained by the CNIB psychosocial department.
Meet people and make friends, learn new ways to increase your independence and talk about topics that are important to you.
Participants discuss a specific topic in this peer-support session. Some examples:
• Cooking together
• The world of scents
• Eye disease group
• Total blindness group
“I consider these meetings to be group therapy. Sometimes we have the privilege of meeting people who become friends. Discussing our vision problems together is stimulating and helps us get through our day. I recommend these meetings to everyone!”
CNIB client Jean
Our peer support groups meet through conference calls, in our CNIB offices, or in cooperation with partner organizations.
