Transforming CNIB’s virtual programs: McConnell Foundation makes incredible gift to support Canadians with sight loss

Last year, the pandemic forced us to rethink how we develop and deliver programming. Since we could no longer deliver community-based programs in person, we had to work quickly and effectively to transition our programs to virtual platforms.

Say no to e-scooters in Toronto

The City of Toronto is considering a pilot project to introduce e-scooters to the streets of Toronto. Given the accessibility and safety risks that e-scooters could pose to pedestrians with sight loss, CNIB recommends against introducing e-scooters to Toronto's already busy roads. 

We have been working with a coalition of community organizations advocating against the introduction of e-scooters in Toronto, but we need your help.

CNIB Partners with Global Sighted Assistance Leader, Be My Eyes

CNIB Lake Joe makes transformational change thanks to a 2019 grant from Ontario Trillium Foundation

Muskoka, ON – After receiving a $147,600 capital grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation in 2019, CNIB was able to make an incredible transformation to its waterfront facility, CNIB Lake Joe. Thanks to this extraordinary grant, the space received key upgrades that will ensure it’s inclusive for everyone. Last winter, a new sound-absorbing wood ceiling was installed in the lounge, and the dining hall ceiling was lowered to help improve the acoustics.

TTC CNIB Transit Pass Update

In 2018, eligible CNIB clients were provided with a new CNIB TTC card to use when travelling on the system. This card is set to expire on January 31, 2021. The TTC will be extending the expiry date to January 31, 2024.
