Camp provides the opportunity to youth to grow and bond together in an environment that fosters fun and growth. This new leadership experience will bring Youth with vision loss from across Canada together to develop as leaders in a completely supportive and independence focused environment. Youth will develop leaderships stills, knowledge and techniques to help them grow into successful, independent and happy adults. Youth will leave the program with a better understanding of themselves, a network of peers and professionals that spans across the country, and leadership skills that will help them to bring down the barriers of equality and break into the world of work. And there’s plenty of time for fun activities like swimming, rock-wall climbing, tandem biking, water tubing This program will be a great first step for participants who would be interested in pursuing the SCORE program in the future. Once participants complete this program, they will have the opportunity to support our Day camp programs as Volunteers. This will provide them with valuable skills in leadership and tangible work experience that they can add to their resume.

The camp includes/ Cost: Each BC Participant will be provided round trip travel (from the participants closest airport to the Vancouver International airport where we will travel as a group). Food and accommodations and recreation activities for the duration of the camp, a T-shirt, all workshops and learning material take-aways during the camp. This camp will be completely subsidized by CNIB BC but will require a $50.00 registration fee to reserve your spot.

Maximum participant number: as space is limited applications and interviews will be taken on a first come first serve basis.

Please Note: As this program requires cross country travel there is a certain level of prerequisite independence that campers must have in order to participate. There will be a semi-casual interview process for this program to confirm that this program is appropriate for the youth at this time. Once the interview is complete, the youth will receive a letter informing you both of the next steps; one being that they are accepted to the LIT program and provided the registration information, or the other being that they are invited to participate in the day camp programs and encourages to develop leadership skills for participation in the LIT program in the future.

To register for an interview for the program and for more information, please have your youth get in touch with Emily McFarlane at Emily.mcfarlane@cnib.ca
