Braille and Technology: Changing Perceptions

For more than 100 years, CNIB has been creating programs, providing services and advocating to inspire hope and create equal opportunity for people with sight loss. One of the longest-running initiatives is the CNIB National Braille Conference, which has welcomed delegates for more than 40 years.

This year’s conference, which will have ACVREP continuing education credits available, focuses on braille and technology. There are workshops, roundtables, panels and presentations focusing on interactive literacy, employment and accessible technology, vision rehabilitation and community support.

Construction Notice

Please note, there is construction taking place at the intersection of Don Mills Road and Eglinton Avenue East during the conference. In an effort to avoid any inconvenience brought on by the construction, those planning to take public transportation, we recommend:

From Downtown Toronto
Take the Bloor-Danforth subway line east to the Pape Station and transfer to the Don Mills (route 25 or 925 Express) bus. Get off at St. Dennis Drive, right in front of the Science Centre.


From North of the Science Centre
Get on the Don Mills South (route 25 or 925 Express) bus from the Don Mills Station on the Sheppard subway line. Get off at St. Dennis Drive, right in front of the Science Centre.


From West of the Science Centre
Take the Bloor-Danforth subway line east to the Pape Station and transfer to the Don Mills (route 25 or 925 Express) bus. Get off at St. Dennis Drive, right in front of the Science Centre.


From East of the Science Centre
Take the Bloor-Danforth subway line west to the Pape Station and transfer to the Don Mills (route 25 or 925 Express) bus. Get off at St. Dennis Drive, right in front of the Science Centre.


We expect some delays in traffic do to the construction, so please take a some extra time to plan your commute. Volunteers will be at the St. Dennis Drive stops to assist anyone who needs help getting to the Ontario Science Centre.
