BALANCE for Blind Adults Presents: Fitness Class with Personal Trainer Mark Mangabay!
What is the difference between exercise and physical activity? Physical activity refers to a movement that uses energy, such as walking, yard work or recreational sports; it is not structured or planned, rather, it represents natural movement throughout a person’s day. On the other hand, exercise is a structured and planned form of human movement to enhance physical adaptation, such as weight loss or improved endurance or strength.
If you have been wanting to start exercising but aren’t sure where to begin, join Personal Trainer and Occupational Therapy Assistant Mark Mangabay for Power Hour Fitness Classes!
This session will include 30 – 45 minutes of exercise to uplift your mood and get you sweating, as well as tips on exercising safely in the home and a Q&A portion for all things fitness! Set to upbeat music, this week’s workout will include the usual full-body exercises but include attention to fine motor skills. Fine motor skills work the smaller muscles of the hands, fingers, and wrists. We use fine motor skills to type, write, dial, grab etc.; these will be addressed with strengthening, stretching and coordination exercises.
The group meets biweekly on Fridays from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Registration required. To register for this program, please RSVP through Zoom using this registration link or call BALANCE at 416-236-1796 ext. 0.
