CNIB is looking for a Specialist, Labour Relations to enhance the organization's growth by supporting the delivery of human capital initiatives for both staff and volunteers in collaboration with business leaders. In this role, you will support the success of our Ontario division by providing insightful people consultation and Human Resource/Labour Relations administration in a unionized environment. This position will be based in our Toronto Bayview office and will report directly to our Sr. Manager, Human Resources & Labour Relations.
Intern, Policy Development
This three-month paid internship position in the Strategic Insights and Planning team will support the coordination and delivery of a key project to review and update CNIB's board and management policies and procedures, and version them for adoption by our sister organizations Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada and CNIB Deafblind Community Services. The role will report directly to the Senior Director, Strategic Insights and Planning and will also take direction from the Manager, Board Relations.
Specialist, Change Management & Accessibility Standards
We are looking for a “Come to Work” intern who has strong change management skills, as well as a good working knowledge of accessibility and inclusion standards. The CNIB is in the process of developing accessibility standards for published documents, both internal and external. The intern will use a client centered approach and change management methodologies to create and implement strategies for the successful implementation of these standards. The intern will develop strategies that address stakeholder relations, business processes, communications, learning, and accessibility. Success is when these areas are all addressed and impacted stakeholders are aware, understand, and are ready to execute and maintain the standards to a level that is comfortable. The intern will also identify risks, resistance to change factors, and change fatigue indicators.
This is full-time 6-month internship position.
Researcher, Clear Print Guidelines
We are looking for a “Come to Work” intern who has strong research skills, as well as a good working knowledge of digital media and design practices. The CNIB’s Clear Print Guidelines were created and disseminated to promote better practices surrounding print media for the blind and partially sighted. These guidelines were a unique contribution to help industries cater to the specific needs of this population and widely cited. The Accessibility and Inclusion team is seeking an intern to help conduct research to inform, update and substantiate the validity of these standards. They will also help develop interactive materials to disseminate to the design community and the wider population based on evidence and best practice.
This position is a full-time 6-month internship.
Specialist, Independent Living
Provide instruction and guidance in compensatory independent living skills, and assistive technology. Enable individuals living with vision loss to independently carry out daily activities.
Vision Rehabilitation Assistant
This position is responsible for completing a broad range of responsibilities and duties that will enhance the provision of Vision Loss Rehabilitation Services. Primary responsibilities include assisting rehabilitation specialists in the areas of Independent Living, Orientation and Mobility, Low Vision and Assistive Technology as well as providing driving and guiding assistance for staff who are blind or partially sighted.
Coordinator, Data Analyst and Participant Engagement - Internship
Reporting to the Manager, Career Support and Lead, Accessibility Technology, the Coordinator, Data Analyst and Participant Engagement will support the data management needs for various Programs in the GTA region and connect with participants to conduct surveys and collect service quality information. This role's primary function is to ensure capture and registration of individuals to the programs being offered by the Program Leads. As part of this function, validation of all data elements needed to report back to the various stakeholders (funders, agencies, government etc.) will be part of the role. Lastly, this position will also provide an opportunity for the individual to work within a business environment, actively participate in functions supporting delivery of programs and help work on data element/reporting best practices.

The GDMI will play a critical role with our participants from the initial stages of entrance into the program to the successful pairing with a Guide Dog to achieve the participant’s goal to live independently in partnership with a guide dog.
