This position will lead an initiative to create more accessible spaces in Saskatchewan for individuals who are blind and partially sighted. Specifically, the Program Lead will be responsible for mapping parks and other public areas using accessibly navigation apps and technology. The individual will also market the use of beacons to various businesses throughout Regina and the province with a goal to maximize the accessibility of community spaces for individuals with sight loss.
In this role, you will change what it is to be blind by:
Creating more accessible spaces:
- You will learn about accessible navigation and the use of beacon technology in businesses.
- You will develop a plan and initiate projects to map parks and community spaces using accessible navigation tools.
- You will program beacons for various businesses in the community.
- You will document processes and train others how to use this tool and seek out volunteers, with the help of the volunteer coordinator, to test the work that has been done.
Building strong community relationships:
- You will develop and steward strong and effective partnerships with businesses, organizations and government that will smash barriers for individuals with sight loss.
- You will track partnerships developed and commitments made and when follow-up is required with each partner.
- You will provide information to CNIB’s Manager of Philanthropy and Program Lead, Communications and Outreach to maximize donor investment and media attention on the project.
- You will be a key local ambassador for CNIB, representing and promoting the organization at all relevant external events.
Working with an amazing team:
- You will help make CNIB the organization of choice for participants, volunteers, donors, and stakeholders.
- You will develop and foster an inclusive, empowered culture where every team member – staff and volunteer – feels their contributions towards our mission are equally valued and respected.

Developing, delivering and monitoring best-in-class programs:
- You will develop implementation plans to maximize the success of the projects in Saskatchewan, working within established service standards and project guidelines.
- You will lead and manage outcome evaluation processes for the projects, using a standard framework.
- You will constantly seek opportunities to improve project delivery outcomes, leveraging available evaluation data for your region.
- You will keep abreast of best practices and new developments in accessible navigation for people who are blind or partially sighted, and proactively bring forward ideas on how to improve all aspects of the work we do.
Engaging and empowering participants:
- You will champion CNIB's high standards of client and customer service, ensuring they are universally understood by staff and volunteers, and continuously upheld across all aspects of local operations.
- You will build strong, positive relationships with stakeholders, and seek insight into their unique needs, goals and lived experiences.
- You will proactively encourage program participants to take advantage of other CNIB programs and services that may benefit them, offering them opportunities to expand their support network and deepen their community engagement.

- Liaison at all levels with external community partners, agencies, donors, volunteers, staff and clients to support and implement project goals.
- Develop, encourage and promote effective partnerships and community relations that support the Foundation's mission.
- Work closely and collaborates effectively with management, peers, staff and volunteers.
Problem Solving/Time Frame of Impact:
- Ability to provide effective solutions to routine as well as complicated problems utilizing diplomacy analysis, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to respond to and resolve stakeholder issues in a timely manner.
- This position works under the general guidance of National/ Divisional program guidelines and standards, and has autonomy on daily operational activities.
- Regular consultation with the Executive Director on operational issues requiring escalation.
- Facilitate and enhance team-efforts on a professional level and share specialized knowledge, experience, concepts, and skills.
- Provide positive leadership, coaching and management support to staff and volunteers within the team.
What do you bring to the table?
- A track record of project planning, delivery and completion.
- Excellent interpersonal, influencing and communication skills, with the ability to plan and deliver clear. communications to a dispersed audience.
- Working knowledge of non for profit/volunteer organizations.
- Effectively demonstrates understanding and championing of diversity and accessibility issues.
- Experience in delivering training workshops and devising and delivering presentations.
- Good relationship/team builder and networking skills with a variety of stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical, problem definition and problem-solving skills.
- Proven time management, planning, coordinating and organization skills; proactive in initiating multiple projects on an ongoing basis.
- Professional attitude, results oriented, strategic and flexible.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Google Docs, Google Maps.
- Experience in working with accessible navigation applications an asset.
Experience and Education
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field an asset.
- 3-5 years of experience in project delivery within a charity/not-for-profit organization.
- Knowledge of adaptive technology an asset Knowledge and experience working in a not-for-profit or charity.
- Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and vision loss is considered an asset.
- Willingness to work flexible hours.
- Willingness to work from different locations.
- Travel will be required.
- Ability to independently travel throughout parks and other areas to test various mapped sites.
- Ability to travel independently to other provinces to carry out similar work.
