Assisting in creating and leading an amazing team:
- You will help make CNIB the organization of choice for volunteers – promoting our commitment to volunteer engagement at every opportunity and developing the active volunteer base needed to support local operations.
- You will lead by example in bringing our values to life – pushing your team to work with passion, determination, ambition and a positive spirit to change people’s lives, and society itself.
- You’ll also ensure understanding of, and compliance with, all CNIB's policies and procedures.
Assisting in delivering and monitoring best-in-class programs:
- You will constantly seek opportunities to improve service delivery metrics and participant outcomes, leveraging available evaluation data.
- You will assist in recruiting and engaging peer support volunteers who will individually and as a group, help individuals to adjust to vision loss.
- You will assist in recruiting and engaging advocacy volunteers who will individually and as agroup, advocate for a better Canada for people with vision loss.
- You will assist with implementing plans to maximize the success of CNIB's advocacy programs in your local market including the growth of existing CNIB programs working within national and provincial service delivery standards and program curricula.
- You will help measure the outcomes of the engagement of our advocacy volunteers and the impact our advocacy programs on our clients, volunteers and to the societal change we hope to accomplish.
Engaging and empowering participants:
- You will champion CNIB's high standards of client and customer service, ensuring they are universally understood by staff and volunteers, and continuously upheld across all aspects of local operations.
- You will build strong, positive relationships with program participants, and seek insight into their unique needs, goals and lived experiences.
- You will proactively encourage program participants to take advantage of other CNIB programs and services that may benefit them, offering them opportunities to expand their support network and deepen their community engagement.
- You will provide administrative support as required
Assist in building strong community relationships:
- You will help develop and steward strong and effective partnerships with community organizations that are aligned to and/or can help further our mission, including other service delivery organizations, funding agencies, etc.
- You will be a key local ambassador for CNIB, representing and promoting the organization at all relevant external events.
- Liaison at all levels with external community partners, agencies, donors, volunteers, staff and program participants to support and implement program goals
- Work closely with the Program Lead – Advocacy & Peer Support as well as Regional Manager and collaborates effectively with management, peers, staff and volunteers
Problem Solving/Time Frame of Impact
- Ability to provide effective solutions to routine as well as complicated problems utilising diplomacy analysis, creativity, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to respond to and resolve program participant/staff/volunteer issues in a timely manner
- This position works under the general guidance of National/ Divisional program guidelines and standards, and has autonomy on daily operational activities
- Regular consultation with the Program Lead – Advocacy & Peer Support on operational issues requiring escalation
- Facilitate and enhance team-efforts on a professional level and share specialized knowledge, experience, concepts, and skills
What do you bring to the table?
- A track record of successful people skills encompassing developing and maintaining positive relationships with individuals seeking services, partnerships with organizations, and team of volunteers
- Excellent interpersonal, influencing and communication skills, with the ability to plan and deliver clear communications to a dispersed audience
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- Proven time management, planning, coordinating and organization skills; proactive in initiating multiple projects on an ongoing basis.
- Effectively demonstrates understanding and championing of diversity and accessibility issues
- Professional attitude, results oriented, strategic and flexible
- Excellent analytical, problem definition and problem-solving skills.
Experience and Education
- University degree in Social Sciences and/or Humanities
- Minimum 1 year of work experience in a social service environment
- Knowledge and experience working in a not-for-profit or charity
- Work experience in the field of vision loss is considered an asset
- Knowledge of adaptive technology an asset
- Willingness to work flexible hours
- Willingness to work from different locations
- Moderate travel will be required
