Job description
  • Research labor market for Employment Services Team
  • Support participants on the job through coaching techniques
  • Assist with resume and cover letter development
  • Prepare participants for interviews and other job readiness activities
  • Assemble Employment Readiness Materials
  • Assist in compiling Training Manuals, CNIB Retail Store Procedures
  • Provide general information to clients, public, and donors
  • Provide support, guidance and leadership to volunteers within the local
  • Promote CNIB services including Vision Health in the community
  • Promote March of Dimes services in the community
  • Support on-going events 
  • Provide clerical and general office support relating to special events
  • Data-entry and database update
  • Analyze and report on the work completed
  • Formulate mandate and goals specific to the position to guide applicant(s)
    in 2014
  • Complete Hadley training course “Blindness Basics”
  • Other duties as required

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Professional, articulate, confident presenter
  • Proficient in MS Office and Database management
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • First Aid/CPR

Experience and Education:

  • Minimum two years' post-secondary education in health studies or social science
  • Experience working with individuals with complex needs an asset
  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment;
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with Ontario legislation and regulations;
Working conditions

  • Applicant will receive sighted guide training
  • Applicant will receive training on CNIB programs, policies and procedures
  • Applicant will receive training on March of Dimes programs, policies and procedures
  • Applicant will receive Health and Safety training
  • Increased knowledge of issues relating to persons with vision impairment
  • Increased knowledge of issues relating to persons with physical disabilities
  • Willingness to work flexible hours
  • Occasional travel may be required
