Seniors Maintaining Active Roles Together (SMART) are community-based, volunteer-led exercise programs for seniors that accommodate all levels of ability, including vision loss. Organized by the local VON Canada branch, SMART programs improve strength, balance, and cardiovascular health, and reduce social isolation and hospital visits relating to falls. CNIB is pleased to host this free exercise program specifically for people with vision loss. Space is limited (maximum 8 people).

Apple Accessibility Session February 22, 2018

Experts at the Apple Store provide one-hour accessibility sessions for people who blind or partially sighted. This particular session will focus on Low Vision Settings for people with low vision. With a maximum of six attendees per group, you'll learn about the basics of using assistive technologies for sight loss that are built into every iPad, and iPhone. Bring your own iPad or iPhone to follow-along and get set-up or simply come to learn and browse.   There is no fee for this one-hour session (2:00 - 3:00 p.m.). Transportation leaves CNIB office (20 Anne Street South, Barrie) at 12:30 p.m., returning by 4:30 p.m.

Toastmasters will help you build the communication and leadership skills to express yourself in a variety of situations. By learning to effectively formulate, organize and communicate your ideas to others, you can achieve all kinds of success! Not only is it a lot of fun, but Toastmasters is also an opportunity to network and build skills to help you with your education, employment or personal advocacy goals. The Club utilizes impromptu speaking challenges, speech writing and delivery lessons to help members learn how to properly craft and share their message. Stop by and check out a meeting! Our Club is open to everyone in the community (not just CNIB participants) so bring along your family and friends! When: We meet the first, third and fifth Wednesday of every month.
