CNIB Guide Dogs needs volunteer puppy raisers in Ottawa/Carleton Place!
CNIB Guide Dogs has expanded its puppy program to the Ottawa/Carleton Place area and is in need of caring individuals to become volunteer puppy raisers for future guide dogs in the region. Previous experience with dogs is not required. If you’re eager to learn, CNIB Guide Dogs will provide you with support and training so you can feel confident in your volunteer role.

We swap success stories, talk about our favorite plants, and generally 'dish the dirt' on all things horticultural. For all levels of garden enthusiasts. Whether you patio or container garden, or have lots of gardening space, the time in this group will just buzz by. Every Monday from 1 to 2 p.m. Eastern Time on Zoom.

New CNIB Legal Support Offerings

Through the largest consultation process in CNIB’s history, we heard directly from people impacted by blindness across Canada that they wanted CNIB to provide more support in instances where their human rights are infringed upon. In response to their feedback and to help provide greater access to justice, we are now offering legal support (referral services and litigation grants) to Canadians who encounter legal issues they may require support with as part of the CNIB Advocacy program.

As snow blankets our streets and sidewalks, CNIB’s annual “SnoWay” advocacy campaign is back to highlight the barriers that snow and ice create and remind municipalities, businesses, snow removal contractors, and homeowners about their responsibility to clear snow and ice from paths of travel.

Volunteer Opportunities
Community Engagement Volunteer – Unsupervised
From classrooms to city hall or speaking to businesses, our Community Engagement Volunteers provide public education and advocacy to help raise awareness about key issues facing the sight loss community and create positive change for people who are blind or partially sighted. Unsupervised Community Engagement Volunteers attend community events and give presentations on behalf of CNIB without direct supervision of CNIB staff and are screened to attend engagements at settings with vulnerable populations (i.e school settings, seniors homes etc).
Community Engagement Volunteer – Supervised
From classrooms to city hall or speaking to businesses, our Community Engagement Volunteers provide public education and advocacy to help raise awareness about key issues facing the sight loss community and create positive change for people who are blind or partially sighted. Community Engagement Volunteers support our advocacy programming and campaigns under the supervision of CNIB staff and do not work directly with vulnerable populations (i.e school settings, seniors homes etc).
