Thrills and Skills at CNIB Lake Joe

From Victoria Day to Labour Day, this year’s camp program provides exciting options for everyone with an adventurous spirit and a curious mind. It’s packed with opportunities to hone a new skill you’ve always wanted to develop, check new experiences off your bucket list, or simply rest and relax with friends and family.

Indulge in a long weekend adventure

Recognized as an unofficial start to summer, the Victoria Day weekend means the start of planting season, barbecues and camping…or “glamping” CNIB Lake Joe-style. Our May Long Weekend Getaway (May 17-20) is open to anyone who wants to get a head start on the season and enjoy Lake Joseph at its most pristine. This four-day adventure provides an excellent sampler of everything CNIB Lake Joe has to offer, plus some special treats that can only be enjoyed in the spring.

Bend it like Beckham on our five-a-side soccer pitch

Five-a-side soccer, also known as “blind soccer,” is an amazing adaptation of the world's most popular sport, tailored specifically for individuals with sight loss.* Featured again this year in our Camp Abilities program for kids aged 8-18, our blind soccer program develops the abilities of budding athletes while fostering inclusivity and empowerment. No experience or equipment is required! This is a great chance for kids to try something new with little risk and lots of reward. Goooooooal!

*Modifications for five-a-side soccer include: the ball makes noise when it moves; all players except for the goalkeeper wear eye shades; and the goalkeeper is fully sighted and acts as a guide for players. As the name suggests, the game is played with five players per team.

Enjoy hours of aquatic amusements

Everybody loves the lake and now there are even more reasons to dive in! With new safety buoys, the waterfront is going to be more accessible than ever before. The new swim lines will be more tactile and easily identifiable, making it easier for swimmers to navigate and participate in water-based activities. And we know guests will want to make a splash with our new waterslide feature, the “Freefall Extreme.” This is a 10-foot high zero-entry slide that enables multiple users at once and has a sizeable cave splash zone below the slide for playing, bouncing, and resting. All this is in addition to our wonderful water ski program where participants can learn the ropes, make some waves and gain some pretty impressive bragging rights.
